On haiku, in free verse

A haiku is a winter exhalation
Whose secret has been revealed
Unexpectedly on a chilly glass pane.
A nervous poet guides a finger
Around this wisp of truth,
To preserve it with care,
Like an ancient creature in amber.
Then he is unfailingly amused,
That the quiet truth of his heart,
Stark naked before him,
Took so little to convey.
