Crop Engraver
The newspaper reported that circles
had appeared overnight in a local field.
The story didn't rate an ultralight photo,
just a file one taken from Zeppelin's box set,
and of course the compulsory poser,
this time about an iPod crashing.
Not referred to as sign, tag, or art;
but "circle!" for the love of Lugh!
...as if I was some boomaler
who just used a string and spike.
May blight alight upon his article
and rot his withered kernels!
They don't have a clue what a chore
it is to score the Desborough Mirror
in thirteen acres of golden barley.
Art is a long quest from the wheel
my friends, but I will buy that farmer
a pint next time he is in the pub
spinning his ripening tale...
